In a significant move towards bolstering healthcare services in Mauritius, the renowned Medine Group has announced its ambitious investment of nearly Rs 2 billion in a state-of-the-art multidisciplinary private hospital. Collaborating with SAF HEALTHCARE HOLDINGS CO Ltd, the Medine Group aims to offer primary health care as well as introduce new specialties previously unavailable in the region. This strategic investment aligns with the group’s vision of creating a unique value proposition in the West of Mauritius and is a key element of their inclusive and dynamic ecosystem, showcased under the new territorial brand “The West.”
The upcoming private hospital, spanning an impressive 13,500 square meters, will be situated on a nearly 5-acre plot in Cascavelle, strategically located just minutes away from major residential areas in the West region. With a capacity of 110 beds, the facility will bring together essential healthcare services, alongside a wide range of medical and surgical specialties, including exclusive and unprecedented treatments in Mauritius. Construction is scheduled to commence in the second half of this year, with completion anticipated by the end of 2025.
Dhiren Ponnusamy, the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of the Medine Group, envisions the hospital as an integral part of their broader strategy to create an inclusive and thriving ecosystem in the West region. This ecosystem encompasses residential, commercial, educational, sports, and recreational activities, all contributing to the progress and attractiveness of the territory. The recent unveiling of the territorial brand “The West” serves to consolidate the group’s commitment to enhancing the region’s appeal and urban development. Once operational, the private hospital is set to benefit not only the entire population of Mauritius but also the residents of the West region in particular, offering them convenient access to top-notch healthcare facilities. The hospital’s comprehensive range of services addresses the existing gap in healthcare options and anticipates the region’s needs, driven by a surge in population growth and numerous residential, office, and hotel projects in the pipeline.
